Profile of Closed Globe Injury in a Secondary Eye Hospital

INTRODUCTION Closed globe injury of the eye is type in which eyewall (sclera and cornea) intact or only partial thickness wound present. Studies focused on closed are limited. So aim study was to analyse demographic pattern, modes trauma, place agent trauma impact different ocular structures vision. MATERIAL AND METHODS It a retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study. Details 167 patients with attending Dr.Binod Neeta Kandel Eye Hospital, Nawalparasi from Aug 2017 July 2018 were reviewed. Demographic profile, detailed history examination findings analysed. RESULTS more common males (61.7%) than females (38.3%). The mean age 30.76 ± 16.58 yrs, youngest being 3 years old whereas oldest 90 old. Left involved. Domestic accident (38.92%) commonest. Conjunctival laceration (21.55%) traumatic uveitis commonest sequelae injury. Good vision (Visual acuity (VA) 6/6 -6/18) seen 79.64% cases 7.78% blind (VA less 3/60). CONCLUSION can occur trauma. Anterior segment involved posterior segment. Even trivial have sight threatening impact.
